Katrien Mannaert

Katrien Mannaert studied at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, where she obtained her Master’s degree in organ in 2010. Her main organ teacher was Reitze Smits.

Katrien is the titular organist of the Church of Our Lady in Sint-Niklaas and Nieuwkerken-Waas.

In 2003, her participation to the Flemish Organ Days in Hasselt was rewarded with both a first prize and the “Prize of the City of Hasselt”. In 2005, she also became a laureate of the “Axion Classics” competition. In 2012, she contributed to an organ CD on the monumental Draps-Flentrop organ in Sint-Niklaas, commissioned by “Orgel in Vlaanderen”.

Katrien is an active member of the organ committee in Dendermonde and Sint-Niklaas. As a performer and co-organiser, she is always looking for innovative, unusual and inspiring ideas to introduce the organ to the widest possible audience (e.g. organ concerts with poetry, organ and wine, organ and contemporary dance,…).

Katrien works as a teacher for organ, accompaniment practice, Music Studio and Creative Music Lab at the Municipal Academy for Music, Word and Dance in Dendermonde and as a teacher organ and accompaniment practice at the Flemish Academy of Arts in Ronse.
